What is Nitrous Sedation?
Nitrous sedation is perfect for patients seeking a relaxed and calm experience during dental appointments. Safe and effective for all ages, this quick-acting sedative helps ease anxiety and makes procedures more comfortable. The effects wear off swiftly, allowing you to return to your day without delay. We often recommend nitrous oxide for those who feel nervous or have difficulty staying still during treatment. Enjoy your visit with confidence!
Conscious Oral Sedation
If you experience mild to moderate anxiety before dental visits, conscious oral sedation may be the right choice for you. Oral sedation is an excellent option for those who want to ease their nerves while still maintaining some awareness during treatment.
IV Sedation for Deep Relaxation
For patients with severe dental anxiety or those undergoing extensive dental work, IV sedation offers a deeper level of sedation—so deep, you may fall asleep and have little to no memory of the procedure. At 405 Dental Aesthetics, IV sedation is administered by a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)—a highly trained medical professional who is present throughout the procedure to monitor your safety and comfort.
Why is Nitrous Sedation Needed?
Choosing nitrous oxide sedation can greatly enhance your dental experience for several reasons. If you feel afraid, nervous, or panicked about your treatment, nitrous oxide can help you relax. It’s also beneficial for patients who struggle to sit still for long periods. This sedation option allows you to remain awake and aware during the procedure while enjoying a sense of calm and comfort. Experience dental care with less stress!
Who is a Candidate for Nitrous Sedation?
Most of our patients are excellent candidates for nitrous oxide sedation. We’ll review your health and medical history to assess when sedation might be beneficial for you. You can request nitrous oxide at almost any time during your visit, and our team is happy to accommodate your needs to ensure a comfortable experience while receiving care.
What Happens During the Nitrous Sedation Process?
Nitrous oxide is a simple yet effective sedative that helps you feel calm and relaxed during your dental procedure. We'll place a small mask over your nose, and as you breathe in the sweet-smelling gas, you'll begin to feel its soothing effects almost immediately. Once the mask is removed, the effects wear off quickly. However, it’s important to arrange for a friend or relative to drive you home, as you may not be able to drive yourself.
