Dentures are removable replacements for missing teeth, allowing you to easily take them in and out. Depending on individual needs, patients may receive either full or partial dentures. Full dentures are used when all natural teeth have been removed and are replaced with a complete set of dentures. There are two types of full dentures:

Treatment Options At Four Zero Five Dental Aesthetics

Most patients who desire All-on-4 implants can safely undergo the procedure. It's important to note that implants require healthy underlying bone mass for proper bonding. If there is bone loss, we may recommend a bone grafting procedure before implant surgery. We will review your health and medical history prior to placing the implants, and you should be in good health to ensure a successful procedure and healing process.

Conventional Full Dentures

This type of denture placement occurs after all teeth are removed, allowing the gum tissue time to heal before the dentures are fitted. It may take a few months for the gum tissue to heal completely, and during this healing period, you will be without teeth.

Immediate Full Dentures

Before your teeth are removed, your dentist will take measurements and fit the dentures specifically for your mouth. After the extraction, the dentures are placed immediately, allowing you to avoid any time without teeth. However, you'll need a follow-up visit to refit your dentures, as the jawbone will slightly change shape during the healing process. Once your jaw has healed, the dentures will need to be adjusted for a secure fit.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are a great option when not all your teeth need to be removed. They function similarly to a bridge but are not a permanent fixture in your mouth.

Getting used to your dentures may take some time. The flesh-colored base sits over your gums, and some people initially find it feels bulky or that there isn’t enough room for their tongue. You might also notice that the dentures feel loose at first. These sensations can impact how you eat and talk for a while. However, over time, your mouth will adapt, and the dentures will begin to feel more like your natural teeth. While they may never feel perfectly comfortable, they offer a significant improvement over the alternative of being toothless.

Even though dentures are not real teeth, it's important to care for them as if they were. Brush your dentures to remove plaque and food particles before taking them out. After removing them, place them in room temperature water or a denture cleaning solution—never use hot water, as it can warp the dentures. Handle your dentures gently to avoid dropping them, and never attempt to adjust them yourself. If they feel uncomfortable or loose, always seek assistance from your dentist.
