What is a dental bridge?
A dental bridge is a personalized restoration that fills in the gaps left by missing teeth, connecting securely to neighboring teeth. Unlike removable dentures, dental bridges are a permanent solution that mimics the look and feel of natural teeth. With proper care, they can last for many years without needing to be replaced.
What are the reasons for needing a dental bridge?
One common reason for needing a dental bridge is tooth loss. If you are looking to avoid implant surgery or are not a suitable candidate for it, a dental bridge can be a great alternative to restore your smile and improve how your teeth function. Additionally, having a bridge can help prevent surrounding teeth from shifting or becoming overcrowded.
Who is an ideal candidate for All-on-4 Implants?
Patients considering All-on-4 implants must have adequate bone mass for successful bonding. If there is bone loss, a bone grafting procedure may be suggested prior to implant surgery. Your health and medical background will be evaluated before moving forward with the implants to ensure a successful procedure and recovery.
Who qualifies as a candidate for a Dental Bridge?
We will evaluate your teeth to determine if a fixed bridge is a suitable option for you. The bridge will need to be connected to two neighboring teeth for a secure fit. If a larger bridge is necessary, we may recommend using implants for additional support to ensure stability.
What happens during the Dental Bridge Procedure?
The process of getting a dental bridge begins with a local anesthetic to numb your mouth. Next, we shape and file down the surrounding teeth to create space for the new bridge. Impressions are taken to make both a temporary and permanent bridge. You will receive the temporary bridge initially and return for a second appointment to get the permanent one.
During your next visit, the temporary bridge will be removed and the permanent one will be securely placed using dental adhesive. We will then polish and adjust the bridge and provide you with instructions on how to properly care for it.
