Can you Explain What a Dental Bridge is?

A dental bridge is a personalized option for replacing missing teeth that is securely attached to adjacent teeth. Unlike removable dentures, dental bridges do not require removal for cleaning. They are strong, realistic in appearance, have a long lifespan, and do not need frequent replacement.

Why is a Dental Bridge Necessary?

If you have experienced tooth loss and are not a candidate for implant surgery, a dental bridge can be a great solution to restore your smile and improve your dental function. In addition to preventing neighboring teeth from shifting or becoming overcrowded, there are several reasons why someone may need a dental bridge.

What type of Person is a good Candidate for All-on-4 Implants?

Patients must have sufficient bone mass for successful bonding before moving forward with All-on-4 implants. If there is bone loss, a bone grafting procedure may be suggested before implant surgery. Your health and medical history will be assessed to ensure a successful procedure and healing process.

What type of Person is Eligible for a Dental Bridge?

We will evaluate your teeth to determine if a fixed bridge is appropriate for you. The bridge will be secured by attaching it to two neighboring teeth. If a larger bridge is required, we may recommend using implants for additional support to ensure stability.

During the Dental Bridge Procedure, What Occurs?

If you are thinking about getting a dental bridge, the process will start with numbing your mouth with a local anesthetic. The nearby teeth will then be shaped and filed down to create space for the new bridge. Impressions will be taken to make both a temporary and permanent bridge. You will initially receive the temporary bridge and come back for a second appointment to get the permanent one.

At your next visit, the temporary bridge will be taken out and the permanent one will be securely placed using dental adhesive. We will then polish and adjust the bridge and give you instructions on how to properly care for it.
