What is a Dental Bridge?

A dental bridge is a custom-made restoration that replaces one or more missing natural teeth by attaching permanently to the surrounding teeth. Unlike removable prosthetic appliances, dental bridges do not require removal and cleaning. They provide a natural and realistic appearance and can last for many years before needing replacement.

Why Would a Dental Bridge Be Needed?

One of the main reasons people require a dental bridge is due to tooth loss. If you prefer to avoid implant surgery or are not a good candidate for it, a dental bridge can help restore your smile and improve functionality. Furthermore, having a bridge can prevent surrounding teeth from shifting or becoming crowded.

Who's a good candidate for All-on-4 Implants?

Patients interested in All-on-4 implants must have sufficient bone mass for successful bonding. If there is bone loss, a bone grafting procedure may be recommended before implant surgery. Your health and medical history will be assessed before proceeding with the implants to ensure a successful procedure and healing process.

Who is a candidate for a Dental Bridge?

We will assess your teeth to see if a fixed bridge is suitable for you. The bridge must be attached to two adjacent teeth for a proper and secure fit. Larger bridges may be less stable, so we may suggest using implants for extra support if needed.

What happens during the Dental Bridge Procedure?

The process starts with a local anesthetic to numb your mouth. Then, we shape and file down the surrounding teeth to make room for the new fixed bridge. Impressions are taken to create both a temporary and permanent bridge. You will leave with the temporary bridge and return for a second appointment for the permanent one.

At your next visit, the temporary bridge will be removed and the permanent one will be securely placed with dental adhesive. We will polish and adjust the bridge and give you instructions on how to care for it.
